New and upcoming dub-jazz sextet from Ghent, leaving crowds exhausted and breathless every time they perform. Watch for the new sound of completely live played dub, with 2 jazz guitarists (Edmund Lauret and Cyriel Vandenabeele) and saxophone player Ambroos De Schepper.
With a background in jazz, Kosmo Sound creates an exciting, danceable and eclectic universe with tight grooves, oriental sounds and spacy sound effects. Improvisations and expansive melodies take the listener on a trip through their cosmos. The sextet has toured the UK several times. That is where the inspiration for the full album Antenna in 2020 arose. The ultimate recognition came when their singles were mixed by dub legends Daniel Boyle and Alpha & Omega and when they played as the support act for Adrian Sherwood, The Twinkle Brothers, Groundation and Omar Perry.
“A richly varied fresco and a reflection of their exciting live shows. Few bands make it to the big festivals, but Kosmo Sound is really ready now.” – De Standaard
“As if GoGo Penguin started improvising with Khruangbin” – OOR
“Now to dash through some of the best contemporary jazz from around the globe. From Belgium come Kosmo Sound whose second album ‘Fruit of the Void’ mixes jazz with dub, electronica and Afrobeat to a sinewy effect” – Shindig! Magazine (UK)
