Jiraan is a music collective led by the Syrian violinist and composer Shalan Alhamwy. Twelve top-notch musicians from all over the world explore their common musical ground. In this album Jiraan reveals the roots of traditional Sirto music and connects Middle Eastern with jazz and Balkan music traditions. By creating a new intercultural sound through jazz solos and improvisations, they transcend effortlessly established notions of style and convention.
